filling in the blanks

Geez I haven't posted in over a year! It's been so long that it took my about half an hour to recover the address...so sad. So much has changed in the past year so I will try to re-cap as best i can.

August 2010 - We went on a cruise to celebrate me finishing graduate school, our 3rd anniversary and just to take a trip together! It was so much, we went on pretty much the same on as our honeymoon and it was great the 2nd time!

I got a new job at Baldwin Co. Mental Heath in Bay Minette! The drive is the worst part, but it is a really good job in my field. I have many more thoughts on this job that I will get to later, as this is an overview.

October 2010 - We celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary by going out to eat...Bonefish I think. And had champagne at home!

We took an impromptu trip to Washington D.C. for the "Rally to Restore Sanity." This was so much fun! It was so nice to be around all those people who felt the same way we did about politics and the reality of our country. We stayed outside the city in Baltimore, we rode the train everyday into D.C. We ate good food at our "favorite" restaurants from our previous trip, we made drinks in our room, and walked and walked and walked around the city. Definitely one of our favorite cities thus far!

November 2010 - We celebrated Jason's bday!! We went out to eat with his Mom and Dad and had a fabulous time! They gave him the Beatles White album!

I began seeing Dr. Leslie Buckley to start learning a natural birth control method.

December 2010 -

1. Meagan's baby shower
2. Walters Controls christmas party (where I was on the crisis line for work and got too drunk to answer the phone)
3. Neighborhood meeting (where j and I volunteered to take over the reigns of the neighborhood committee)
4. McKay cookie party
5. New Years Eve party with Jessica and John Roberts that resulted in her falling out of her chair numerous times and both of us throwing up

January 2011 - started running with Jessica Roberts from work - we started with 4 miles at south and worked up to 6 miles on old shell, later this month she becomes pregnant and screws up the running vibe we had established

February 2011 - I came down with the roto virus just after coming home from a conference (my 1st professional conference) in Auburn. My mom traveled with me which was fun, I went for a run in downtown Auburn and she walked around then we met back up later for frozen yogurt.

March 2011 - my nephew Jack Taylor Benton was born on 3-2-11 weighing 7 lbs 5 oz and 21 in long

In March I was working out pretty regularly and running to get ready for the 2 races that I had signed up for that month. Jessica Roberts and I ran the Spring Fever Chase on March 19, my time was 1:13. On the 26th I ran the Azalea Trail Run and finished with a slightly longer time. After these 2 races, I stopped working out/running as much this month, felt really tired a lot, even had to take some quick naps during the work day. I chalked it up to my body being worn out and needing more time to recover.

April 2011 - Still feeling tired/worn out. I had made an appointment previously with a new OBGYN just for an annual exam -- this is where our lives take an exciting/scary turn...more on that later.

May 2011 - I attended a 2nd conference for work, that the center paid for which was really nice. This one was in Birmingham and a few other ladies from work went as well. We had a lot of fun getting to know each other and not having to go to work for a week.

This is the month that the wedding madness began for Jordan’s wedding.

Jason and I took a fun vacation that started and the end of May and went into the beginning of June. We went to St. Louis to see Jason’s family, his mom also traveled there with us. We then traveled to NYC to see Ross.

June 2011 - we spent a lot of this month in the boat on the water!

Jordan’s “spoil the bride” shower that I gave at my house. This turned out really well, she invited 75 people and about 20 came. Which is really good because that many people would not have fit in our house.

We had a Father’s Day cookout at our house. Jason’s parents and grandparents came. My Dad and Jane, and Josh, Meagan, and Jack Taylor also came. This was a ton of fun! It was really good to have everyone over at our house and it provided an opportunity for some of our family members that don’t normally hang out to get to know each other a little better. And of course there were some family portraits taken as well.

I had a fun girl’s day with Vanessa -- we went to Aaron’s wedding together then had coffee at Moka’s and reminisced about old times.

I picked back up the working out this month with a free 4 week bootcamp. I ran a 10 minute mile

bad mood friday

I did not sleep very well last night, therefore, not in the greatest mood this morning...but, luckily it was just made worse by my dad's persistence on being non-assertive and never believing that he is worth anyone's time. Case in point: I left him a message last night trying to make plans for father's day (which is in 3 days, I'm also resenting the fact that I am always the planner these days but really who else is going to do it?) He calls back and says "Now, I don't want ya'll to mess up your day because of me." I reply, "Dad, its Father's Day...its a day about you..." This makes no sense to me, just doesn't compute, and angers me. Then he says, "Ok, well why don't we just do lunch?" "Perfect," I say, "where would you like to go? Since its your day." Then he says my favorite part: "You know, it really doesn't matter to me. I can eat a hamburger and feel full, and then I don't really know whether I've eaten a steak or a hamburger." Me: no response. "I'm just kidding," he says. He also mentions something about Dick Russel's which I completely ignore. At this point I decide its just best if I make the plans then let everyone know what they are. To summarize, I really don't enjoy having to get everyone together for these events, its just never easy....And now, I resent how unhelpful everyone is.

currently

  • Standing at my desk with my computer on a file box so that I don’t kill myself (because sitting at work all day is killing our bodies, can’t find the article….)
  • Wishing I were at home working the sewing room – why haven’t’ I worked on that more????
  • My arm is looking really bad today from where my blood was drawn, not very well, for the thyroid test
  • Hoping I get a call very soon about another job!!

rip pyrex dish -- you served us well

Sadly, our dinner last night (wed -- avocado chicken & modern family night) was untimely taken by physics. I took it out of the oven and set it on stove top without an oven mit under it and it cracked instantly. Thankfully, though, it was the pyrex dish and not the glass stove top! The night was saved however, thanks to papa johns...oh well, we'll try again next wed and I won't forget the oven mit!

condensation

ever since i asked jason (and he successfully explained) about how condensation works, I've been waiting to see some on my morning glass of water. the backstory to this is that i bring a glass of mostly-ice-water with me to work every morning. i fill it up with mostly ice to start then continue refilling it with the water filter i have at work. this process ensures that i can sip ice water throughout the morning hours. during the past few winter months i started to notice that there was no condensation forming on my water glass. so i asked jason about, knowing that he would be able to give me an answer. he explained that in the winter there is less moisture hanging around in the air (humidity) and since the air temperature is colder it can only hold a certain amount of water at a time -- something a little more complicated about pressure and such. so, i am happy to report that today....my water glass is making some condensation!! the world makes sense once again!
